Singer, songwriter and producer

John K. Allen, known by the stage as “JK” Allen, was born October 22, 1956 to Johnny Allen and Edith Lamb in Peekskill, N.Y. His father was a musician; an instrumentalist who played for and traveled with Dizzy Gillepsi in the 1950-60s. His mother was a career nurse and gospel minister. JK has one sibling, a younger brother. JK grew up singing in choirs and groups and had tried his hand at the piano by age twelve. He was a natural. As he grew in life, throughout high school and into his military career, he never left music behind. While enlisted, not only was he a communications specialist, he directed music groups, choirs and served as the keyboardist and soloist; this was his lot wherever he was stationed. After military retirement, JK became a sought-after singer/keyboardist who ultimately got the attention of the legendary James Brown, who he became a keyboard player for. He played for churches and produced music throughout Georgia; particularly the Augusta area where he lived until 2018.
